Reichhold Chemie is a global supplier to the composite and coating industry. With 19 manufacturing sites and four technology centres in 13 countries, Reichhold is one of the world’s largest suppliers of unsaturated polyester resins for composites and a leading supplier of coating resins for a wide variety of markets and applications.
Colorado Construction was contracted to manage the demolition of a Reichhold Chemie factory in Hausen, Switzerland. The site was originally a concrete factory constructed in the 1930s and was converted to plastics manufacture in 1970. The site, part of a portfolio of sites owned by Swiss North American Properties, has lain dormant for the past 15 years.
The site covers an area of over 13 acres with various building basement tank farms. The buildings, which extend to heights of up to 28m, require to have all structural steelwork, vessels and tanks removed as part of the project.
All materials are crushed and recycled on site in compliance with Swiss ARV regulations.
Asbestos Removal
The site had over 80 tons of high grade asbestos which Colorado Construction contained, removed and disposed of, together with over 400 tons of asbestos cement sheeting.
Colorado Construction was selected to undertake this project due to our experience in chemical works and other industrial process environments and due to the company’s experience in handling recycling and asbestos requirements.
