Youth Development

Colorado worked with Sport Scotland and the local clubs to develop a centre of excellence in Alva, Stirlingshire. We continue to support the centre and provide on-going support to up and coming youth athletes in Scotland.

This practical help works – one lad, who trained regularly as a youth at the Stirling Centre of Excellence, Bradley Forbes-Cryans, was selected as the GB’s men’s slalom kayak representative for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finishing in 6th place!

Some lovely feedback – “Thanks again for supporting Livingston Community FC and Greenrigg Primary School with your kind donations. There are 44 boys on the team, and getting a winter jacket to help them in the wet months is greatly appreciated. We also had the Christmas Fayre at the school, which raised over £2200 pounds; it helps us pay for the panto, give them discos across the year, help with school trip costs, etc. The local communities and I appreciate the support you have shown us to help with this”.

Colorado Construction sponsor Scottish and British youth team members, assisting them in their goal in following in the footsteps of British Olympians such as David Florence and Tim Bailey. For example, Colorado Sponsored U23 athlete, Eilidh Gibson, who helped GB become world champions at the 2017 world championships in Pau France. Eilidh just missed out on a medal finishing fourth in the individual C1 women’s event. The Colorado Group was formed from an idea born in the Grand Canyon. Several of the owners of the business were keen canoeists in their youth and so when the opportunity arose to help the development of Scottish canoe slalom’s youth, we were delighted to be of help.
